I mean they were part of a football drama that could not have been scripted any better.

I think we saw today, on opening day, what the world would be like if God granted every wish.

"Please God, let Dawson make this kick with 30 seconds left". God did.

"Please God, let Dawson make an excellent kick-off to make up for the 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct that was called after the field goal by Dawson." God did.

Dawson kicked off from his own 15 yard line and mashed a beauty that snaked to the left side of the field and actually caused the kick returner to waste close to 10 seconds trying to mount an effective return.

"Please God, don't let Trent Green complete a bomb to win the game"....God granted that wish too.

"THANK YOU GOD, I think I'll throw my helmet in the air in celebration for granting all of our wishes"!

If we acknowledge that any sport is bigger than any individual team, you have to laugh at todays game as being the best in entertainment.

If the Browns player had not thrown his helmet, we'd all be laughing at Trent Green's
backward lateral to an offensive lineman as being the funniest sight you'd ever see.
There goes the lineman lumbering down the field.

If we had tackled the lineman sooner, perhaps the penalty does not put the chiefs close enough to kick the field goal. The lineman lumbered down the field, probably knowing there was no way he could score on what should have been the final play of the game.

Instead, the lateral to the lineman fooled one of our players into thinking Trent Green had been sacked and that the game was over.
Throwing his helmet would not matter, since the game was over. But the lateral kept the play alive, and suddenly throwing a helmet during a play is a 15 yard penalty and one more offensive play must be allowed because the game cannot end on a defensive penalty.

Wow. What a lesson in humility. Especially
after we had just been called for a 15 yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct after Dawson's field goal gave us the lead.

That first fifteen yard penalty was a warning from the football Gods that went unheeded.

And that is the end of this little drama. Better the first week of the season than during the playoffs.

The Browns had a few helmet problems, but weren't hurt by them. Lang got a personal foul for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Frerotte, but nothing came of it.

Darren Hambrick got a personal foul for shoving the helmet off Matt O'Dwyer's head, but the Bengals bungled that chance when kicker Neil Rackers fumbled the snap on a fake field goal.

The crowd roared when Cincinnati's T.J. Houshmandzadeh was flagged for taking off his helmet in the closing minutes.

This is just too funny.

Also, Gus Ferrote tried to pull a Trent Green and threw a left-handed pass that was intercepted and returned to the 8 yard line of the Bengals.

If you can't show appreciation for Trent Green's decision to flip the ball backwards to his offensive lineman, which ended up causing last weeks game to be won by KC, you have no sense of humor.
